In memoriam
Steve "Stig" Tasso
Our good friend and long-time member of Hobbits Hole, Steve ‘Stig’ Tasso sadly passed away in July 2024.
Our condolences go out to his family and all those who knew him.
He was a regular player and GM with us in person for some 15 years , but then Covid hit and his own poor health made travel to the club difficult. Luckily we have an online community as well and so Stig very much remained a member of this club, bringing his unique style to the games he played.
Sadly, in July 2024 his last game remained unfinished and, as will happen to us all one day, his character finally outlived the player.
So what will we miss about our friend?
His ever-changing facial hairstyles perhaps?
His ability to single headedly keep the drinks company "Lilt" in business?
His no-nonsense approach to life?
What we will miss most is how genuine he was. He was kind, friendly, funny and fiercely loyal.
He was an ever present mentor to the younger members of our club insisting on adding the word ‘young’ before their names regardless of how old they became in later years! He would give anyone his last pound if they needed it.
Our club plays roleplaying games. We create imaginary characters and add their abilities and personality on a sheet. However, If we had to write one of these to capture the amazing character and personality of our friend Stig, there simply is not a piece of paper big enough.
He was quite simply a genuinely good man in a world where that isn't nearly as common as we need it to be, and the world is poorer without him.
We from the club he loved, loved him too and will miss him very much.
